My article "Welcome to the New Campus Normal: A Dispatch from Ohio State" has been published in the online journal of the Jewish Review of Books.
I wrote this piece—independent of my role at Hillel, whose views aren't expressed in it—to draw attention to the pervasive antisemitism that is enveloping campus life. As I say at the end, however, I believe the real takeaway is that Jew-hate has not and will not go uncontested, as long as there are people of character and institutions to contest it.
Thanks to the editors at JRB for soliciting and publishing the piece; the issue of campus antisemitism is timely and disturbing. But thank you most of all to the students who agreed to speak with me and let me share their stories—this is for you. I hope the article sheds light on the current problems on campus and helps to build consensus to keep pushing back against hate. You can read the article here.
