Problems call for a solution. The Jewish Problem, as it was known, is no exception. The Holocaust was only the final attempt by Europe to solve the problem of a people who thwarted the dream of a whole, united continent by being aliens within it. Milner traces modern Europe’s attempts to solve this problem—spiritually, then materially—from its beginnings on.

Today, Europe, united at last after the annihilation of its Jews, dreams of uniting the world. The problem? Israel. Milner’s book is a warning to Jews that Europe isn’t done trying to solve the problem they pose.
