Shabbat Reading: Albert-László Barabási's Linked

#whatireadovershabbat Albert-László Barabási Linked: How Everything Is Connected to Everything Else and What It Means for Business, Science, and Everyday Life (Plume, 2003)

If you ever wondered how six degrees of separation works, this is the book for you. Society, just like cells, Hollywood, the internet, and countless other things, follows the laws of complex, self-organized networks. How we came to understand these laws of our “linked” world is the story physicist Albert-László Barabási tells. However, his editor could have cut him off halfway through, when he finished this story. The chapters after each focus on a field where network science has led to advances. While fascinating, they don’t add to the story.
